We are looking for a highly motivated individual with advanced Ruby on Rails programming capabilities to expand our multi-app web platform. Bring your experience building, maintaining and operating a consumer web app and its ecosystems. To be successful, you will work closely with both the engineering and business team. You will be focused on successful software design, engineering and delivery. You will conduct code review, enhance existing code, and collaborate to bring new business stories to life. You will develop unit tests and author code documentation. Our environment is one of agile development teams and processes and a lean start-up methodology. The ideal candidate will have strong engineering and process skills honed inside a software solution company; start-up experience desired. S/he should lean heavily on execution and delivery from an engineering perspective, but also be able to think analytically and creatively in terms of short and long-term architecture and strategic/technology vision.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Ruby 1.8+ and Rails 3.0+ experience, including designing, architecting, scaling and hosting
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and comfort on the command line
  • Experience with both MySQL and Redis (or similar technologies)
  • Experience with continuous, automated deployment to EngineYard, or similar service
  • Experience driving bug fixes and new features with TDD (RSpec/TestUnit, Capybara, Selenium)
  • Rich, interactive browser-based development (JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS)
  • Experience building out simple, well-designed APIs for iOS, Android integration
  • Degree in computer science or equivalent work experience

  • Ability to fully engage in the development process, including design, rather than being limited by coding to specs

We recently released Construction Inspector targeted at inspections during the lifecycle of building construction. Imfuna adoption is growing in the US, UK, and South Africa with a solid recurring monthly revenue model. Position in San Francisco, California, remote US-based or remote UK-based.
