Software Development

2014-06-12 19:26

PhishMe is seeking a motivated individual to join its software development team. The successful candidate will have at least some professional experience (internships or professional jobs held as a student are valid). This is a full time position working for PhishMe, Inc. Outsourced or software development contractors should not apply.

Successful applicants must be:

  • A self-starter
  • Willing to finish and maintain projects — not just start them
  • Able to work effectively and be pragmatic as part of a remote team in a dynamic business environment
  • Comfortable working independently when necessary and able to escalate problems when appropriate
  • Able to effectively communicate
  • Detail-oriented
  • Available to work for eight solid hours per day where at least five overlap with 8am to 6pm EST
  • Available during off-hours when necessary
  • Available for occasional travel
  • A US resident

Your experience should demonstrate that you:

  • Are eager to learn and able to understand and apply new things relatively quickly
  • Understand version control (bonus points for git experience)
  • Have some hands-on Rails experience

It would really be outstanding if you:

  • Have attained a four-year degree in something (…anything)
  • Have customer support experience (retail, help desk, consulting, etc.)
  • Have read Sandi Metz’s POODR and agree with a lot of it
  • Have solid Ruby and Rails knowledge. Not the ability to write magically obscure code, but the wisdom to write clear code that looks obvious in retrospect
  • Are comfortable with advanced git usage: rebase, rebase -i, merge –no-ff
  • Are able to list a bunch of sources you actively use to keep current with Ruby, Rails, and programming news
  • Are fluent in SQL
  • Have basic image creation and manipulation skills Echo “Are very comfortable in the Unix command line”
  • Already do a lot of testing with RSpec
  • Like the look of https://github.com/styleguide/ruby

  • Competitive salary + stock
  • Retirement plan with 3% company match
  • Health, vision, dental, disability, and life insurance
  • Telecommuting expense reimbursement, etc.
  • Choose your own Apple workstation
  • Peers that enjoy appropriate use of internet memes
  • Enjoy your nights and weekends!

  • Chantilly, Virginia
  • Telecommute (United States only)
