As Full Stack Engineer at charity: water, you'll be responsible for architecting and developing an amazing, comprehensive online fundraising platform for bringing clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet.


  • You'll architect, build, test, and maintain aspects of a fundraising platform used daily by thousands of fundraisers and donors.
  • You'll integrate user-facing Web applications into back-end office systems and processes.
  • You'll work with a cross-disciplinary team of engineers, designers, product managers, and story tellers to create the best online fundraising experience possible.
  • You'll participate in regular design and code reviews.


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
  • Extensive experience doing full-stack Web application development using Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, and friends.
  • Experience with MySQL or Postgres databases, caching with Memcache or Redis, and more.
  • Experience integrating with internal and third-party APIs (REST API design is a plus)
  • Experience writing modular, extensible front-end code using JavaScript and jQuery.
  • Working knowledge of CSS3 (experience with SASS is a plus) and HTML5.
  • Disciplined approach to test-driven development, A/B testing, and metrics-driven decision making.
  • Agile approach to software development and maintenance cycles.

We prefer candidates located in (or willing to re-locate to) the NYC area, but are open to those who have experience working remotely.
