Resource Guru is the leading provider of cloud-based team scheduling software. It’s the fast, simple way to schedule people, equipment and other resources online. Companies like Saatchi & Saatchi, Vodafone, Intel, Roche, ASOS and National Geographic Channel trust Resource Guru to handle one of their most precious assets - their people’s time. Resource Guru was founded in 2011 in London and is funded by Index Ventures. Learn more at resourceguruapp.com.

Our technology stack is mainly based on Ruby on Rails, Backbone.js and MySQL. We like agile processes and continuous deployment. We are a very small, remote team with employees in London and Norfolk, UK. This means you would be free to work from anywhere with an Internet connection. We video chat on Skype and like to meet up every now and then to work together from co-working spaces like Google Campus. We will also be happy to pay for coworking space near you if you need it. We’re a small, friendly team and we like to think of ourselves as a family :)

In Brief

We are looking for an outstanding software engineer to join us and help take Resource Guru to new heights as one of the world’s leading productivity apps. As our Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for coming up with imaginative solutions to technical problems and delivering a top notch user-experience to our customers. You must be highly motivated, energetic and able to work autonomously.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement awesome new features and help deliver Resource Guru’s roadmap - both front and back-end code.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for designing and developing Resource Guru’s technical architecture and infrastructure.
  • Participate in the design process of every feature you work on - from brainstorming to prototyping to reviews and polish.
  • Review code submissions from other engineers.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers.

What We're Looking For

  • Passion! We want you to love working at Resource Guru - the right candidate will dream in code and get excited about how the user experience can be improved.
  • A proven track record of architecting, developing and deploying high-volume, scalable, multi-tenant, mission critical web applications.
  • You take pride in writing beautiful, readable code with Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Experience of creating applications using JavaScript web frameworks (specifically Backbone.js & jQuery).
  • You will be comfortable spinning up new Amazon EC2 instances and managing the infrastructure via our platform provider, Engine Yard. You will care for our servers as if they were your own family.
  • An understanding of good database design principles and performance optimization. Experience with MySQL in particular.
  • You’ll need to be available to meet in central London on a regular basis.
  • You will be more pragmatic than dogmatic.

What We’re Offering

  • A great salary (negotiable)
  • Stock options
  • Work from anywhere you like (with at least 4 hrs overlap with GMT)
  • 25 days paid holiday per year (yes, on top of public holidays!)
  • Flexible hours
  • Monthly exercise contribution - use it for anything from gym membership to exercise equipment

If all this rings a bell with you, then we would love to hear from you!
