ChronoTrack is looking for an experienced Technical QA Engineer to join our growing development team. Our company's mission is to enhance the experience of athletes and organizers of endurance events, like marathons, triathlons and mud-runs. ChronoTrack currently supplies services and equipment to the world's top endurance events like the New York Marathon, the Paris Marathon, and hundreds of others.

While the events are fun, the data flow to support our live services is serious business. The stack behind our live product line consists of distributed backend services written in Scala, Java, Ruby, and Python and front end services written in Zend PHP. These services process data, interact with social networks, and perform a variety of tasks that require scale using technologies like memcache, mysql, S3, DynamoDB, Reddis, RabbitMQ, and various other distributed technologies. We're looking for an experienced QA engineer to help us ensure that our product is thoroughly tested and maintains its quality as we grow.

We use a homegrown agile process that is similar to kanban and a bit of scrum. Our process pairs QA with a small development team to encourage product ownership and continuous QA as development takes place.

As Technical QA Engineer you will...

  • Work with QA, Product Management and Development to design, implement, and execute test cases.
  • Monitor, manage, and improve upon our automated CI server.
  • Assess customer issues for root cause and future prevention.
  • Provide performance testing and metrics with which to assess the health of the product.
  • Provide the development team with the tools to create and relase high quality software.
  • Technologies we would like you to be familiar with

  • PHP, Scala, Java, Python

  • Selenium (webdriver)

  • PHPUnit, TestNG, ScalaTest

  • REST web services

  • Linux based servers (Debian/Ubuntu)

  • Web application testing and development, including knowledge of HTML, CSS, JS, MySQL

  • Jira and Confluence (for bug tracking and test specifications)

  • Github

We don't require that you have all the skills above, but being versed in software development lifecycle and being able to code is a huge plus (since you'll be writing automated tests). Experience is some of the above mentioned technologies is also preferred.

We have members of the team in Portland, Detroit, DC, Boulder, and Belgrade. While we prefer someone close to these locations, working remotely is a possibility for the right candidate.

We offer competitive salaries, great benefits, and a stimulating work environment. Great development setup with a Macbook Pro and anything else that will make you more productive. We encourage and subsidize conference participation and continuing education. We love open-source, both using and supporting. We believe in fostering a workplace where team members can be productive and happy.
