Description

Interfolio is looking for a talented front-end web developer who is passionate about creating clean and highly usable application interfaces and is excited by the opportunity to empower scholars and make a real difference to higher education.

Our perfect candidate writes tidy, well-tested JavaScript and has rock-solid HTML5 and CSS skills. You keep up-to-date with new techniques, and have experience with client-side frameworks, CSS extensions like LESS, and client-side templating systems like Handlebars. You’re able to take wireframes, functional prototypes, and other design products and turn them into fast, production-ready application front-ends.

You will be joining a small, collaborative agile development team with designers and developers who care deeply about usability and overall user experience. Our team is primarily remote, so your success relies on being a self-starter, a quick study, and a great communicator.

Required Skills

Junior developers are encouraged to apply, but you must have at least two years experience, be ready to jump into projects, and have the following skills:

  • Proficiency with front-end web technologies including LESS, Ajax, and jQuery
  • Ability to take wireframes and functional prototypes and build production-ready web interfaces
  • Experience with both device-agnostic (responsive) and device-specific (mobile) design
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as Backbone.js and templating systems like Handlebars or Mustache
  • Ability to work with server-side front-end views; experience with Ruby, Rails, and/or Sinatra is a plus
  • Experience with testing methodologies for front-end software
