Web Designer

We’re looking for someone who’s equally comfortable designing in Photoshop and HTML/CSS. We are big fans of Slim, HAML and other cutting edge stuff, and if you’ve worked in the Rails view before, that’s a big plus!

Salary negotiable; benefits include a generous health insurance package, tons of vacation days, 35-hour work weeks and generous vacation schedules.

We value good work.

We don’t cut corners, and we don’t want you to, either. We want you to take the time to do things the right way, even if it’s not the easy way.

We believe strongly in BDD

and require that all code is adequately tested. You’ll be working in an environment that allows you to be the best developer you can be.

We’re a small company.

We’ve been around since 2006, but we’ve never gotten too big. Our small size means you’ll know everyone on the team and you’ll be personally treasured. We love our employees.

We want you to keep learning.

The best designers and developers are the ones who continue to add new tools to their skill set. We encourage our employees to spend time staying up on the latest tech and to try new tools whenever appropriate. You’ll never be just a Rails or Photoshop monkey with us.

We value your life outside your job.

We set sensible working hours, and late nights are never a requirement (unless there’s a late deployment or some emergency, obviously, but those are rare). We know that burnout isn’t good for anyone in the long run, and we do everything we can to prevent it.

We’re fun.

We hold bi-annual company retreats where we eat amazing food in fantastic locations and enjoy each other’s company immensely. Day to day, we work on interesting problems and we’re an entertaining group to be around.

There’s lots of variety.

We work with big clients and small startups, and we have a growing set of internal projects that we’re building, too. We’re a Ruby on Rails development firm based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with team members spanning the United States.

You’re a generalist.

Our designers can do HTML and CSS, too. Our developers are skilled in Ruby and Rails, but they also feel comfortable writing some mad Javascript and HTML/CSS. We like folks who are comfortable in the full stack.

You like to build things,

whether it’s the next great web application or a Mexican molé that hits ya just right. Most important, you love to do things the right way, even if it’s not the fastest way or the way that requires the least amount of work.

You can manage your own time.

We work remotely, which means we trust you to do your work even if no one’s looking. If you are the type who needs an office and heavy oversight to do your job, please apply elsewhere.

You're a good communicator.

Working in a remote team means good communication skills are a must-have. We’re doing our best to avoid hiring a layer of middle management, so we hire people who can communicate effectively with clients to suss out requirements and deliver stories. You’ll be collaborating all day with clients and your coworkers via chat and Skype and email, so you’d better be able to string sentences together quickly and clearly!

You read many of the top tech blogs,

so you can always be on top of what’s coming and going in the tech world.

You’re nice.

We are.
