Customer Support

2013-06-19 20:23

Job Description

Do you want to work for a cutting edge software company that’s only a few years out of the gate but is already creating a large market and selling to the Fortune 1000? Ready to be on the ground floor of a technology segment that is reshaping the world of computing?

Opscode has created the leading cloud infrastructure automation software on the planet. We employ some of the most well-known and respected software developers, systems architects, and operations engineers in the world, who have built, designed and operated web applications you use every day. Our open source project, Chef, includes corporate contributions from Facebook, HP, Dell, VMware, Rackspace and hundreds of other leading edge technology companies.

The Customer Onboarding Engineer is a challenging role that blends elements of customer support, training, sales, and technical writing. He or she will be solely focused on helping brand new users successfully begin working with Chef from “zero to first converge” and beyond.

We prefer candidates close to our Seattle HQ, but exceptional remote candidates may be considered.

  • Provide high volume support responses to customers working their way through the adoption process.
  • Work with the inside sales team to give technical demos and proofs-of-concept.
  • Help manage and update content on learnchef.opscode.com.
  • Host virtual office hours and regular webinars geared towards new users.

Required Qualifications

  • Unbounded enthusiasm for Chef and its community.
  • Passion for learning, collaborating with others and being an all-around customer advocate.
  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to present highly technical content in an approachable fashion.
  • Some demonstrated experience in systems engineering/administration or software development and an understanding of configuration management tools and principles.
  • Awesomeness trumps all other requirements.

Benefits are awesome — a competitive salary, equity for all, solid medical/dental benefits, 401(k), telecommuting, flextime, a variety of interesting projects, and brilliant co-workers.
