2013-06-18 21:04

Since 1996, Electric Pulp has focused on developing cutting-edge interactive solutions. We’re looking for a PHP programmer / developer who can help us continue to produce top-of-the-line digital experiences for demanding but fun clients. So if you’re great at what you do, and what you do happens to be front-end development, we want to hear from you.

We prefer that you are or could be local to Sioux Falls, SD or even the Minneapolis area, but don’t let your location stop you from applying. We understand that the right fit might not live here.

About the job

As a PHP developer at Electric Pulp, you’ll be integral to the success of the project, working with our project managers and front-end developers to implement the underlying server-side functionality of our projects. Typical projects involve working with MVC frameworks like CakePHP or platforms like Magento or WordPress.

While coding is the core function of this role, there are a few other things that we'll be looking for:

  • Ability to work well with others
  • Self-starter tendencies
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Dedication required to meet a deadline
  • Interest and proven history in learning new methods and technologies
  • Ability to write effectively and without typos

This position is available now and is already loaded with work, so you’ll need to hit the ground running. Expected skills and experience are as follows:

  • 2+ years PHP development experience
  • Experience with MVC frameworks and concepts
  • Proficiency with HTML5 & CSS2/3, JavaScript (esp. jQuery)
  • Proficiency with version control tools (preferably git)
  • Familiarity with server configuration (esp. Apache and nginx)
  • Familiarity with server-side caching tools (esp. Memcache and Varnish)
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., Wordpress)

This is a full-time salaried position with benefits:

  • Paid time off for vacations or illness
  • Excellent health insurance (company pays full single rate)
  • Vision / Dental insurance
  • Simple IRA retirement account with company match
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Laptop provided
  • Competitive Ping Pong environment
  • Free pop, (That’s soda, for you coastal types.)

This is a full-time position with benefits. We’re very serious about our work, but the team is cool, the projects are fulfilling and the Fridays allow for casual attire. As do the other days.
