Description

About You

You are a mature, intrinsically-motivated, well-rounded systems/data engineer, with a deep understanding of how to make infrastructure resilient and how to scalably process terabytes of data.

You have about 5 years of experience, possibly spanning both software development and systems engineering. You’re comfortable with Linux, managing public or private cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS or Openstack), working with databases (e.g., MySQL or MongoDB), and processing reams of data with Hadoop (and associated tools around like Impala, Pig, Hive, or Oozie).

You love learning, and sharing what you’ve learned with others. You may have presented at a meetup or conference on some of the technologies listed above, or have contributed to an open source project.

About Next Big Sound

Launched in 2009, Next Big Sound is the leading provider of analytics and insights for the music industry. We merge tens of billions of data points (social media, press coverage, events) for hundreds of thousands of artists with our customers' proprietary sales and streaming data. We cover the majority of the global recorded music industry and use our data to forecast the next big selling artist. Next Big Sound powers the Social 50 and Next Big Sound charts for Billboard. As of July 2015, NBS is part of Pandora Media, Inc.
