We’re looking for a Junior Support Programmer who will be responsible for a variety of customer support related duties for HelpSpot. First and foremost, you’ll answer questions on how to use HelpSpot, help identify bugs, and assist customers with optimizing the system in complex situations. This will require gaining a deep understanding of the software and it’s capabilities.
You will help debug installation and server issues on Linux and Windows, IIS and Apache, and our HelpSpot Cloud platform. This will often require using tools like GoToMeeting to work directly with customers in their systems.
Taking what you learn via direct support you’ll also work on improving documentation, writing software tests, and fixing bugs.
We understand this takes a special kind of programmer. You'll need to get a kick out of troubleshooting, be undeterred by hard to pinpoint problems, and most importantly be able to effectively communicate and empathize with customers.
In this role you’ll have a lot of opportunity to learn about the business of software, improve your technical skills, and assist us as we move from a legacy PHP code base to the Laravel PHP framework.
You’ll work with some of the best people in software on a small team where your efforts have a direct impact on the company and on our customers success.
You should have excellent communication skills and solid experience writing PHP, and an eagerness for learning.
We’d prefer someone in the New York metro region, but we hire the best people regardless of location.
