Ideally we are looking for a freelance developer based in the US or Canada.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for someone who can find and squash bugs in our code, maintain and improve existing parts of our application, and handle building out new services and applications features as we continue to grow. A qualified candidate will be comfortable across the full LAMP stack. We use PHP (Yii framework), MySQL, jQuery, AJAX, and LESS, as well as Postgres, AWS, WordPress, and other ancillary services. Qualified candidates are comfortable with all of these technologies, are quick to become familiar with a new codebase, and enjoy learning new things to meet changing needs.


  • Reporting to our Lead Developer, handle primarily back-end development tasks
  • Improve and build unit and functional tests across the application, and be a front-runner for TDD best practices
  • Participate in QA, testing, and bug fixing using project management and communication tools (we use Redmine, Slack, and Skype)
  • Be proactive in improving application code, stability, speed, efficiency and overall UX experience for our customers and warehouse employees

Required Skills

  • Experience building UX-driven applications, object orientated programming & agile web development
  • Strong experience in PHP (5+ years), the Yii Framework (2+ years), and MySQL
  • Very comfortable with UT, regression testing, and TDD practices
  • High proficiency in Linux command line tools
  • Comfortable with complimentary front-end skills (HMTL/CSS/JS)
  • Familiar with Database Handling & Migrations
  • Experience with git and GitHub
  • Able to adhere to strict coding standards
