System Administration

2013-06-21 07:22

At Simple, we've only just begun to deliver on the promise of a better, fairer banking experience. Our operations team needs your help to make our platform even more resilient, secure, and adaptable as we continue to innovate and grow.

We're doing something new at Simple and we can't do it without a different kind of operations engineer. You enjoy the challenge of working with complex systems and the art of working with people. Even in a chaotic environment, you're able to tackle tough technical problems. You're as passionate about your work as you are about what you do when your work is done. You know your tools and can explain why you chose them; we use:

  • AWS
  • Chef
  • Graphite
  • Jenkins
  • Scala/Ruby/Python/Clojure/Java

You'll develop tools to automate and monitor our infrastructure in the cloud. With the rest of our engineering team, you'll join our oncall rotation and have the opportunity to work across our mobile, web, and backend applications. When things go right, you'll play a crucial role in the rapid development and deployment of features that will give our customers new insight into and control over their financial lives. And when things go wrong, you'll help us recover and build even safer services.

Simple supports its engineers with competitive salaries, great benefits, equity in the company, subsidized conference travel, and whatever hardware you need to get the job done. We'll work with you wherever you are (in the US) or help you relocate to Portland, OR. Our engineers help define the direction of our product, publish on the company blog and release open source software. We're building something great for our customers and we're having fun doing it.

Get in touch. Send your resume and a cover letter telling us how you can help reinvent banking. We'd also like to see a sample of your technical writing (ie, posts on your own or a company blog), code (ie, open source contributions on Github) or other work you're proud of.
