Description

We’re looking for a frontend developer who can help us build robust, modern, maintainable web applications and libraries for ourselves and our clients, take ownership of frontend tooling and best practices for our organization, and contribute to the open source community.

This position offers a great deal of flexibility, responsibility, and opportunity for growth for the right candidate. We are a small organization, and you will be a key member of our team: your contributions will significantly shape the technical and business direction of our organization.

Who We’re Looking For

The right candidate will be a pragmatic technologist with strong communication skills who can join our technical team as a core member.

Our ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following traits.

HTML / CSS / LESS

  • Current understanding of, and engagement with, HTML5 and CSS3 best practices
  • Ability to produce organized, maintainable, mobile-first LESS
  • Experience developing responsive frontend code on top of Bootstrap

JavaScript

  • Experience developing modern, lightweight, maintainable JavaScript and jQuery for the web
  • Experience with, and preference for, Browserify
  • Experience creating sites using progressive enhancement, or a considered opinion about why progressive enhancement is not a good strategy

Tooling

  • Experience designing, building, refactoring, and maintaining front-end build processes using gulp

Design & UX

  • Ability to guide designers toward finished designs that are efficient to code on top of Bootstrap
  • Ability to convert designs to frontend code (or to supervise the conversion process)
  • A deep interest in creating a sympathetic user experience

This is a full-time, remote position, and will be best for someone with significant experience working remotely. Our business operates in Eastern time. Most of your work day should fall between 08:00 and 18:00 Eastern time so we can all work together effectively. It is helpful (but not required!) if you’re based in the northeastern United States or Argentina where many of our staff are located.

We work hard to cultivate an open and inclusive work environment, and we strongly value diversity in our coworkers. We encourage members of traditionally underrepresented communities to apply for this position.
