Mozilla is a global organization, and most roles are available for home-based work, but if you are near one of our offices, we're happy to provide you with a desk and the company of talented peers. Possible locations for this position are home-based or in-office in Canada, the U.K., France, New Zealand, or the U.S., or home-based in Australia, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, or Sweden.

As a Senior Web Developer at Mozilla, you will need to:

  • Provide leadership in Python application best-practices.
  • Develop and architect solutions to a wide range of technical problems.
  • Perform constructive code reviews, provide guidance to other developers and contributors.
  • Communicate positively with the Mozilla community.
  • Write tests, documentation and invest time towards the maintainability of your work.
  • Keep current on developing technologies and showcase them in your work.
  • Understand and advise on web application scalability and performance.
  • Identify and prevent a wide array of security vulnerabilities.

Job Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 years of web application development in Python
  • Intimate familiarity with modern web standards: HTML5, CSS3, DOM, etc.
  • Strong grasp of programming fundamentals: algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming
  • Experience with revision control systems (svn, git, hg, etc.)

Preferred Skills:

  • Proficiency with Django
  • Experience with localization and global communities
  • Experience with high-traffic websites
